Do I need endpoint protection?

Your device is the endpoint of your network. By implementing robust endpoint security measures, organisations can significantly reduce the risk of cyber attacks and protect important data. By reducing your devices attack surface and restricting access, your confidential business information is kept safe from unauthorised access.

"For 27% of those responsible for print procurement, unsecured printers being hacked has been the most significant print-related security breach in the last 12 months"

How to restrict device access?

Access to device settings and functions can be securely managed and controlled by requiring authentication and authorisation for access. Options such as PIN authentication and NFC cards can be used to protect your device from unauthorised access.

  • Setting Lock: prevents device configurations being changed
  • Custom User Interface: gives users access only to the functions they need
  • Single Sign On (SSO): protects important document workflows by requiring users to sign-in at the device before accessing device features

How to restrict user access?

Human error is a major contributing factor in data breaches. Restricting who has permission to selected functions, or to change device settings, can be implemented so only authorised users can access certain sensitive documents.

  • Secure Function Lock: restricting who has permission to change device settings
  • Integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) Card Reader: secure and efficient user authentication
  • 3rd party card reader support: expand NFC compatibility

What factors reduces the attack surface?

Limiting entry points reduces the attack surface of your device and protects your network from security threats. This can be done through:
  • Protocol Control: only allowing connections to devices via approved protocols
  • Non persistent memory: no internal hard drives in Brother devices
  • Interface Lock: disabling unrequired interfaces
  • Password Intelligence: password protecting access to web-based device management

What is secure firmware?

Similar to computers and mobile phones, printers need regular updates and patches. Updates are required to add new or improved security features, to protect you from the latest security threats. Secure firmware, ensures only genuine Brother software will run on a Brother device means that the device cannot be exposed to malicious or accidental firmware installs.

  • Secure Boot: your Brother device automatically checks the authenticity and legitimacy of the firmware
  • Automatic/Schedule Updates: automatic alerts that new firmware is available
  • Secure Updates: through secure HTTPS encryption
  • Digitally Signed Firmware: ensures genuine Brother firmware is installed
  • Disable Downgrade: prevents older firmware being installed
